| Milos Island | traveling to Milos, Sifnos Posted: Sat February 10, 2007 03:48 PM UTC
Hi,
We would like to visit the islands of Milos and Sifnos from Santorini in May 07. Has anybody tried this? and if so is it feisable in 2 weeks? We would travel from Athens but the flights for us from our local airport are too expensive! Santorini for us is a better option. Thank you for any help. Chriskin |

The LANE ferry Vitsenzos Kornaros sails from Santorini direct to Milos on Thursdays and Fridays at 10:00PM and arrives in the island of lovers about 4 hours later. This schedule hasn't changed for some time. If there are any discrepancies between the current schedule and the one of June they will most likely be minor, i.e., the departure time may change to 11:00PM instead of 10:00PM or the other boat of the company, Ierapetra, may substitute for Kornaros.
You probably won't find the ferry schedules online because some ferry companies (including LANE) do not publish their final schedules until about 3-4 weeks in advance. You may wait to make your online booking a week or two in advance of your departure date, or even the last minute through a travel agent in Santorini. If you travel prior to June 15, you are virtually guaranteed there will plenty of space available, so there is no cause for panic if the ferry schedules haven't shown up online yet. :) Here is what the ferry schedule from Santorini to Milos looked like in June of last year: _________________________________ Day, Month Ferry Departure time - Arrival time ______________________ Tuesday, June 20th Dimitroula 05:30 AM - 11:10AM Saturday, June 24th SuperJet 12:10 noon - 14:15 Sunday, June 25th SuperJet 8:30AM - 10:25AM Monday, June 26th Romilda 10:00AM - 15:40PM Tuesday, June 27th Dimitroula 05:30 AM - 11:10AM Please note that the Cretan ferries of L.A.N.E. are not included in the above schedule. The L.A.N.E. ferries, most notably Ierapetra, will have a revised schedule most likely after June 15th. Up until now, the Ierapetra schedule from Santorini to Milos has been: Thursdays Departs 10:30PM - Arrives 2:00AM Sundays Departs 10:30PM - Arrives 2:00AM _________________________________ As for Sifnos, there is daily connection between the two islands. Conventional ferries make the Milos-Sifnos trip in 1.5 hours, while the high speed catamarans take only 45 minutes. - Andreas
