| Hoi An | Hoi An - Choosing between Life Resort, Palm Beach resort & Riverside Resort Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 04:37 AM UTC
At the end of April our needs will be to relax after hectic days in Saigon & Hanoi. Room needs to have a private balcony or outside area to sit and soak in the atmosphere! We also like to walk and will of course want to explore Hoi An during our 2 night stay. We are not beach nuts but a view is always appreciated, either river or sea. Privacy probably main concern. We have been looking at deluxe seaview at Palm, deluxe or superior at Riverside and Junior Suite garden view at Life.
Any advice? All comments and advice most welcome! Regards, David & Sue |

Hi, are you referring to the Life Heritage resort? I stayed there last month and was really impressed - see my tip for photo and more description.

Life Resort Hoi An is a splendid place. All rooms have a balcony or patio, with a "railroad car" layout: sitting area, bedroom, bathroom. The place is exceptionally clean. Some rooms face the river, others a courtyard. The main restaurant is supplemented by a delicatessen and a bar that serves snacks. (A Japanese restaurant was scheduled to open when I was there last year.
Life Resort is located a short walk from the market, up a street filled with colonial-era buildings, some good restaurants, and tailor and souvenir shops. The staff is super-friendly and -helpful.

I stayed at the riverside and would recomend it to anyone. It is right on the river and you can see buffalo working the fields on the other side.get a room on the second floor for a better view.Nice little private balcony. It's about halfway between the old town and the beach. We walked it several times. The rooms are very clean and the grounds are well landscaped. The pool is beautiful and the restraunt is fine.My wife bought some clothing from the shop there as well. She has a hard time haggling in the market so she appreciated shopping somewhere quiet.Staff was very friendly....Enjoy your trip--CR

Foundryman, if you don't mind me asking, what type of room did you stay in? Superior, deluxe etc?
Cheers, David

You know I really can't remember.I didn't book the room -I got a desk clerk from the hotel I was staying at to find us the room in Hoi An.I think it was just a regular room. What are they asking per night now?Like I said it was on the second floor...The missus says she thinks it was just a standard room we weren't budget conscious but I don't think we would have sprang for a more expensive room.Maybe I'll go thru my pictures and have something scanned and posted in a few days-CR

As far as I could tell, all rooms at the Life Heritage are the same design, however there are 2 stories, all looking inwards but some looking onto the pool and some onto a lush, green courtyard. Ours was groundfloor, looking onto the pool.
Basically, all rooms have a pleasant seating are at the front, then inside there is a lounge area with the bed and bathroom on a raised mezzanine at the back.

Ned,
the rates I was quoting are for the Riverside Resort. Quotes I have for Life Resort are US$98 for a Junior Suite garden (pool) view and US$129 for river view Junior Suite, all inclusive. Sounds fair, I guess? Regards, David
