Manchester Where can I get a prepaid SIM card at the airport?
Posted: Tue February 6, 2007 06:36 AM UTC
Hi all,
I am going to stop by Manchester airport to northern England this weekend. I wonder where can I get a reasonable SIM card for my cell phone? I will call frequently back to US and Germany. What are your recommendations and where can I get in the airport? Thanks in advance :-)

Prepaid cards by Vodaphone work for calling and texting between the UK and Germany. I don't know about the US, sorry.

Thank you so much for both of your reply. I used my cell phone before in Germany. I think it won't be a problem! Thanks all! I think I will probably use vodafone :-)

O2 has a wider coverage area and we'll be in Scotland quite a while so that's what I got. I just got SIMs off eBay and had them mailed to me in Canada.

I had to get the seller to get me some prepaid vouchers :) (you can't use Canadian credit cards) but that went fine.

I was able to activate one SIM here. I'm going to wait and do the other there. Having one working phone will be good enough. I can always use my Canadian service if I must.

I could have gotten the SIMs there but that would take time and effort. I wanted it pre-arranged. This way, I can also give my office my UK number, since I already know it.
