How long will you be there? We've been traveling to this area for almost 20 years.
4 days in Yellowstone is usually enough. Grand Tetons, Jackson area is a must do and, in our opinion, even nicer than Yellowstone.
As to hotels in Yellowstone, as the previous poster mentions, there are several to choose from. Divide the park and conquer in the following manner:
1 day in a central location such as Lake Lodge and see surrounding area.
Next day: Drive to Mammoth and stay at Mammoth Lodge and see northern country.
Following 2 days, a place such as Old Faithful Inn (the oldest and most historic in the park and the single largest log structure in the world).
Drive down to and spend 5 days to a week in Grand Teton National park.
I'm including what I consider to be the most romantic, away from anybody cabins in all of the area.
We've been staying here since we discovered them a few years back.
They sit (only 4 cabins) on an idealic surrounding, on a lake, which is fed by a river. Directly opposite the cabins are a nest of eagles. Beavers swim along the shoreline and you can see elk and deer meandering.
The owners are some of the nicest people in the valley and will help you make all arrangements if you ask.
The family is amongst the first pioneers (original) to the valley eons ago. Fascinating family history. Just tell Jane and Danny Budge I recomended you!

Good luck and enjoy the valley, let me know if you need suggestions on hikes and itineraries, I used to help people set up trips to Jackson.
