Lahore Help identifying location in photo
Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 11:16 PM UTC
I had the fortune of visiting Lahore about a year ago. Amazing city.

I've just gotten around to printing some of my photographs to share and realize that there are a few for which I have no note of location, etc. I would appreciate any help that the Lahore community could give in identifying the shots. I posted three under my "personal albums tab". Thank you all in advance.

I saw the pics in your personal album but was not able to identify the exact area. It'll be quite hard for anyone to tell, because these kind of places are very common all over Lahore.

Hi,
You must have taken more beautiful pictures of Lahore and I hope that you would like to share those also.
Anyways, the first picture is of a Mosque at The Upper Mall (Near the Mall Bridge at Lahore Canal). I think the name is Masjid Bihari Upper Mall. I have sent another picture of this mosque for your record.
The second picture is rather difficult to identify the exact location. I would say that this is a common scene in most of the markets.
Yes the third picture is one of the smallest Qurans. The thing which makes it unique is its design (eight sided) and the exact time when it was produced is not known (around 1000 years old).

Thank you all for your help, especially dr numair. I'd love to see the image you sent, but I'm not sure how to access it...

I do have a few other images from this trip on this site:

http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/play/diane01/1

I made great effort to accurately document building names and such. If I misrepresented any, please do let me know and I will quickly correct them.

I donated several images to the Hidaya Foundation and had a small showing in North Carolina. My original intent was to document some of the fabulous work Hidaya has done in the region, but the container of donations was held up, so I instead imposed upon my generous host family for my entire stay.

I very much enjoyed my time in and around Lahore and hope someday that I'll again have an opportunity to visit Pakistan.

Allah hafiz,
Diane
