| Bologna | Hotel Fiera - or other hotels... Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 10:28 AM UTC
Hi, my wife and I are about to visit Bologna for 4 days, 21-25 Feb, and are wondering about accomodation. Hotel Fiera is very cheap, €152 for the four nights, but I know it's a little way from the centre. We don't mind walking, or getting a bus/tram, how easy is this? If it's hard, does anyone know of reasonably priced hotels that are closer to the centre, or that you would recommend?
Many Thanks Steve. |

Hmmmn, well, I haven't stayed at the Hotel Fiera, but I see that it is about 1.5 kilometers (about a mile) north of the edge of the city center. We stayed at the Jolly Hotel de la Gare, which is, as the name implies, near the train station, which is also on the north side of the city center (about 2 kilometers from your hotel). I like the de la Gare, but it is not cheap, being a business class hotel.
However, I know that it was an easy walk into the city center from the de la Gare, so you would be adding some 20 minutes to that walk each way - certainly doable if you were walkers. Note that your hotel is on the Via Stalingrado, which is a main road, so I would have to believe that there would be city buses along that road. Well, I just looked at the Bologna transit website (in English at http://www.atc.bo.it/english/index.asp) and it look slike several lines run down that stretch... Bill
