whats going on in jan is there much for family to do

I spent Christmas in Fuengirola about 20 years ago so my info is not really updated but I can just tell you, the weather was not warm enough to use the beach, except for strolling. I talked to a friend who lives there via Internet and he tells me that Fuengirola has grown and improved in the last 20 years so if that is the case, you could probably have a fairly decent, quiet vacation there in January but I would expect many places might be closed off season.
