The weekend of the 16-17 sounds great to me. Maybe we should send some emails to some of the newer Moscow members?

Maybe we just smell bad and none of the other members want to be seen with us

Did you decide something? I mean where and when... Yaroslavl and Uglich... isn't it too far?
I am at last back from vacation and endless business trips and open for your ideas...

I'm not sure. It may be a long electrichka ride, or it may requrie going Friday night. I think either city woudl be good. Neil, any idea what the travel times would be to either of these places?

What about Rostov the Great? The same direction but only 3 hours from Moscow? North direction is preferable as we will go from dacha (if we will... I have not discussed it yes with my family).
But you know, I always prefer to go by car ;-)))

Any of the above mentioned places would be fine for us. I now Elena is interested in Uglich as well, however we aren't tied to that idea. From Andrew's perspective he may have to stop for a couple of bathroom breaks, but he will survive, and probably enjoy, the ride. I, unfortunatly do not know any hotels though. I may be able to suggest a couple from my stuff at home though.

Re: Does anyone know any modest hotels in either? Posted: Thu August 7, 2003 08:06 AM UTC
I know one... it was on my Rostov page in past life.... ;-)
"Na pogrebah" - only 17 rooms but inside (!!!) Rostov kremlin. Unforgetable exotic!
Rooms are cheap, but only 2 of 17 have individual facilities. Last time we have a room with shower and toilet "na etazhe" and that was not a big problem.

Well, since it is only the three of us on the list at the moment I guess I am "anyone else" and it sounds alright to me.... :)

I'll be in Moscow on Aug. 22 & 23 if I get my visa in time. Would you like to meet, Neil?

I've called to the hotel, they told me that it is overbooked for weekend. ;-( ("accepting a tourist group", - Aren't you that group, Neil?)
- Any other ideas?

Hotel "Pleshanov Estate". Posted: Mon August 11, 2003 12:25 PM UTC
Hotel "Pleshanov Estate". http://www.hotel.v-rostove.ru/rooms_e.php
Only 3 rooms left for today (1 in garret and two semi-lux). Look for prices on russian page - it is more precise. Booking in advance +20% !
Needs your decision.

Re: Hotel "Pleshanov Estate". Posted: Mon August 11, 2003 12:38 PM UTC
Are those the prices per person or per room? If it is per person it would mean that a room in the "lux" would be about 4500 for me and my family, which is no longer a cheap trip. Also, it says the prices are 20% higher on weekends, so if we prebook for a weekend, does that mean prices are 40% higher??

Re: Re: Hotel "Pleshanov Estate". Posted: Mon August 11, 2003 12:58 PM UTC
of course for room (for person see english page - 700 r.)
1440 + 20%(booking) + 100 (child<12) = 1828 rubles
I have an other idea - I think I will go on Friday... There are free rooms in "Dom na Pogrebakh"...

I am in anyway... Let's see how expensive it could be (it is sooooo important for me now because you know, i am back from my vocation). Anyway, it would be perfect to spend weekend somewhere... Phone me because i am not online everyday day now like always... :-)
