Kruger National Park Gomo Gomo..chalet or safari tent
Posted: Wed January 31, 2007 05:16 PM UTC
Hi all

I am planning to stay in the above lodge ( Timbavati) in June/July and am undecided as to whether to book a thatched roof chalet or an "east african tent"...has anyone stayed here and could they advise which is best?. It appears the tents are on stilts and have a verranda with a deck/chill out area, whilst the chalets are secure structures with a "locked door" and no apparent area to sit.

Also what is the norm with reagrd to luggage, is it left in the tent. Is it secure enough? I am sooooo looking forward to this but would appreciate any feedback in relation to this/wildlife we are likely to see and the general atmosphere. We are looking forward to meeting people of all sways of life!...any advice would be gr8 PS Do the game come in at night???

I would go for the tent - a very cool experience!! And basically still has everything you need! And the deck is brilliant for sundowners.

Would be safe to leave your luggage in the tent.

Although you're going in winter, it'll make it easier to see the animals as you won't have the thick bush + vegetation in the way! The atmosphere in the bush is amazing - you'll have the sound of animals and insects at night - really peaceful and relaxing! If you can, try and go on the game drives, especially if they have a night drive. You'll see a bit of everything, although be warned that the cats (lion, leopard, cheetah) are rather shy and don't always see them.

You'll love it!! I just wish I could go there now! :-)

Hi

There are chalet and tents. You cant go out of your tent/chalet alone at night and you are not aloud to walk alone. Sumtimes there are game between the chalets there are no fenses around the camp. if you are warred about your luggage dont be it is safe.
