| Bolzano | Venice to Bolzano Posted: Wed January 31, 2007 03:09 AM UTC
We'll be in Italy in late May early June and will be spending one night in Bolzano on our way from Venice to Lake Como. Does anyone have information about the buses that would take us from Venice on the "Great Dolomites Road"? We'd like to take a scenic route since we're just in the Dolomites area that one day. Otherwise is there a day tour through the Dolomites that would give us a good overview for deciding on towns for subsequent trips?
Thank you Linda Ott |

Hi,
try to find a tour on this website: http://www.viaggigardena.com/en/trips.html Really Venezia and Bolzano are not connected with normal bus but only with touristic bus organized by local tour operators. To see Dolomite area I suggest you to rent a car in Venice/Mestre and to leave the car in Verona, after a long dayli or two days tour along Dolomite area. Verona is about 100 km from Venice, so the cost isn't high. A better alternative is to rent the car in Padova (30 km from venice by train)and come back again in Padova through Valsugana Valley from Trento. So your trip will start going from Padova to Cortina d'Ampezzo area and the vally and will come back from Trento to Padova again. No problems in Dolomite area for hotels and food. It is a well served area and the prices are not expensive. Don't forget to visit Verona and Vicenza, if you have time to do it ! Have a nice trip Giorgio

My wife and I will also be traveling in the Dolomite region April 16 - 20, 2007. We will rent a car in Genoa where my son and wife live and drive there via Verona. Will we have a problem finding hotels or places to stay during that month? I heard many are closed. We are not skiers or hikers but want to casually drive the great Dolomites Road. Thank you in advance..

My brother and I are taking a train from Venice to Bolzano next week. It looks like a direct train that will take around 3-4 hours for around 22 euros. I found it on the trenitalia.com. We'll be taking it at night so I won't be able to tell you about the views...
