Estado do Parana Hiking on Pico Marumbi
Posted: Tue January 30, 2007 04:10 PM UTC
Hi all together,

I would like to go hiking to the mountain Pico Marumbi.
But I didn't found any further information how to go there.
I will take the train from Curitiba to Marumby.

I found a small map about three possibilities (easy - middle - hard) to hike up.
Does anybody know how difficult the hardest way is? Do I need equipment for it?
Can someone recommend a special way?
How much time shall i consider
Can I also camp there or is it a nature reservat?

Thanks for everybody who takes the time to answer

I haven't been there in ages, but I'll give it a shot (if anyone has more recent info, please update!)

Marumbi is actually an outcropping of 8 different mountains (Olimpo, Gigante, Boa Vista and a few others i can no longer name). Choosing a path will really depend on your physical shape and abilities. The easier paths take around 3 hours, the hardest, a lot longer. There is no need for equipment, unless you want to take a specific path.

The area is a nature reserve - there is an information booth at the entrance. They have maps and can give you a lot more information on each trail. Remember to leave your name and plans, just in case something happens.

You are not allowed to camp in the mountains, but I've heard that you can camp around the lower parts, near the entrance.

Good luck!

Oh I forgot to ask where the entrance is.
Near the trainstation. But maybe it is shown by signs.
Anyway I will find it.
