Going to Malindi in 3 weeks time for a fortnight. Primarily a beach holiday but we have got to do a short safari, preferably 1 or 2 nights Tsavo East/West? Any recommendations on reputable safari companies? Would be grateful for replies.

Check out our pages and in particular, the one on choosing the right tour operator. Along with the one we've used (after many months of research and interviewing), we have tips on what to do to assure a good safari. Good luck!

If you're only going on a short trip for 1-2 nights your best bet probably is to book one with a local tour operator once you're there. Other guests in your hotel will have done the same, and someone will be able to recommend a company that they did a trip with. This way you'll get a much better deal than booking ahead from your home country.

Hallo!
booking safari in kenya is very good as the money stays and benefits the locals not to mention the price will be cheap which is good for you. the few times i've been to kenya i've used this local tour operator and i must say i've been impressed with their organisation. get intouch with HITS through the website www.safarihitskenya.com

There was already a thread previously about HITS, which didn't sound too good. You had answered in this thread as well, and seemed to have some sort of inside information. Considering that you have only travelled to Kenya very occasionally, as you say, this seems a bit weird... It creates the impression that you are one of the tour operators who try to come into the forum here, pretending to be a satisfied customer, when you are actually promoting your own business?

Hi Homer,
Thanks for the note :-). I'm ok, even if a bit depressed that I won't be going to Kenya this year. But have already started making plans for next year :-). Just got a text message from my Turtle Watch friends in Watamu to say that they have a 1.5m long leatherback turtle. Usually they only get to see green turtles or hawksbills. I really really REALLY wish I was there right now. Have you made any progress regarding your next trip to Kenya? All the best! Birgit

Hi
Planning a safari to Kenya, let a local tour operator do it for you.Check on the KATO members as they are reputable and more reliable.Nature Expeditions would be of help to you.
