Pantanal is it really worth it?
Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 04:34 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to brazil and I'm finding that I don't have enough time to fit all of my top spots in. I love nature, animals, etc... So I've always wanted to see the amazon, the pantanal, and iguazu. But now I want to add on Bonito and of course there's rio. Since I just had a baby recently, I no longer have the luxury to go for very long. So I'm thinking of skipping Pantanal and Bonito. The pantanal looks as if it might be kinda drab with just lots of birds (I'm not into birding) and the super cool animals are not regularly seen (i've seen coatamundi, crocs/alligators, deer, etc.) And bonito may be similar to spring diving in Florida with the large tarpon and manatees. If anyone's been to these places, I'd greatly appreciate your opinions. If I have only around 10 days or so (and even those laden with my feeling guilty)...is the pantanal and/or bonito really necessary?

personally i prefer the pantanal to the amazon as there is more to see there in my opinion.

you will most likely see less animals in the amazon and you will need several days to explore the amazon properly.

pantanal can be done in 2-3 days in a way where you still see a lot.

Pantanal and amazonia are completely different environments, but I wouldnīt visit both of them. The trip is always better when you donīt need to hurry.
