| Monaco | Trains from Italy? Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 02:29 AM UTC
We are planning a trip for late March to travel around Northern Italy and we would love to take a train from either Pisa or Genova to Monaco. Our destination is not important, be it, Monte Carlo, Nice, Cannes. We want to see all of these places. We have not been able to find any applicable train information. Does anyone have any advice?
any links, durations, and costs would be VERY helpful. Thank you |

Plenty of trains available, and less than 3 hours from Genoa. Costs will depend on type of service (first, second) and type of train. Maybe 20-30 euros each way.
Try: http://www.trenitalia.com (click on the blue Engish box at the top) or http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm

1. Go to www.trenitalia.com - this is the official Italian rail site.
2. If you need it, click on English on the upper right corner. 3. In the center where the starting and ending locations are, be sure to click on the International tab FIRST. 4. Enter your Italian starting point (the English spelling of the city usually but not always works) and the French destination. 5. Enter a reasonable date. You will be provided with a number of solutions. To see prices, click on "Buy" (if it's not too far in advance) - you don't have to actually buy to see the prices... Bill

Hello from Monte-Carlo.
Very easy to get to Monte-Carlo from Genova (direct trains from Milano to Nice) and they all stop in Monaco. For Cannes, you'll have to change in Nice. From Nice, you can also take a High Speed Train (TGV) that will take you to Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Geneva,... very quick! You may find rates on www.voyages-sncf.com If you need more travel tips from someone living in the region, do not hesitate to come back to me. Regards. Olivier
