Could anyone tell me how much I should expect to pay for a taxi from Colombo airport to Beruwala and how much should I tip the driver (i.e. wat is expected)?

The fee is around Rs 50-55 per km. Airport to Beruwela is around 90-100 km to that's around Rs 7000-8000.
Instead of haggling at the taxi door, simply go to the taxi desks inside the airport Arrivals hall. The main one is just to the left of the banks, and has fixed prices per distance; their runners will take you to the right cab and give you a note with the written agreed amount. Others are in the corridor from arrivals hall to outside, and focus more on multi-day trips and guides though they too should have taxis standby.

For good service, you can give a tip of maybe Rs 200-300.

call this numbers you can get a better deal for around Rs 30 per km. or there are some companies that hire cars with drivers for 2500 Rs per day( only 100 km allowed, have to pay extra if more than 100km)
