| Guadalajara | Side Trips to the Beach Posted: Sat January 27, 2007 10:31 PM UTC
I may find myself living in Guadalajara for a few months. What would be the average cost of taking a weekend trip to the coast to hit the beach? I'd be willing to stay in a hostel or wherever. I'd love an approximate cost that would include two nights in a hostel, transportation, meals and any costs associated with going to the beach. Also, what nice beach areas could I get to easily? I assume Puerto Vallarta, but I don't know any others.
Are there places to swim in/around Guadalajara? Clean lakes or something? |

guadalajara is huge and industrial, so there will be a bit of a way to good swimming spots.
a small town called tequila is nearby though ;Ø=) if you head off to the coast then expect to pay 8-10 US dollars for a hostel and 10-15 US dollars for a cheap hotel. slinging your hammock by a beach restaurant is sometimes an option too that cost you even less.

You will also run into a large mass of people going to the beach for the weekend. Some will have family beach Casitas that will house many people. Go with the flow like Vancouverites going to the Okanagan for the weekend

Hi.. from guadalajara you can travel to:
- Puerto Vallarta (5 Hrs) - Rincon de Guayabitos (2 1/2 hrs) - Sayulita (4 hrs) great spot for Surf (begginers and advanced surfers) - Manzanillo, Colima (3 1/2 hrs) As you say you only what some sand and sea... i recommend go to Rincon de Guayabitos is less expensive than Pto Vallarta and close to Guadalajara. And the cost... i would depend the city.. Manzanillo and Pto Vallarta (Expensive)and Guayabitos, Sayulita, San Blas (not so expensive)here you can find some casitas, hostels from $40 USD by nigth. If you are going to stay for 3 months... go explore Sayulita is a small place and not so expensive.

There are two other options near to Guadalajara. There are the thermal baths near to Talla and swimming pools heated by a gyser. This is in a place called Ixtlan or something. Not 100% sure about the name. Both are about 1 hour away from Guadalajara.
There is another one about half an hour away but i never been there. this one is in a place San Juan Cosala. These are all the options besides of the beach of course. Wouter
