| Manchester | Manchester indie / britpop nightclubs? Posted: Wed January 24, 2007 03:26 AM UTC
Huge fan of Manchester music scene - can anyone suggest a bar to hear Stone Roses, New Order, Smiths, Oasis type stuff + current indie?
I will only be in Manchester for one night - this Thurday the 25th, so any help is greatly appreciated! |

Hi, not hard to hear that kind of stuff in Manchester! There are two big 'indie' nightclubs - 5th Avenue ('5th Ave') and 42nd Street ('42's) they're both cheap and very big with students!! I don't know what age you are, but if you are over about 24 you might find the places a bit 'young'. If you're early 20s or younger, go for 42s. 5th Avenue is rougher and hasn't updated its playlist much since I was going there in the mid-90s!! (I know this because I used to have a flat nearby and could hear every darned song)42nd Street tends to play more modern stuff with Manchester 'classics' as well. At 29 I'd feel like a grandma in there now, but it should play the kind of stuff you're after.
