Keflavík is a 40mins ride away from Reykjavík.
Take the flybus: http://www.flybus.is/

I do agree that the taxi is exspensive an you can take the fly bus and it even brings you to your hotel or guesthouse. I might be able to get you a good deal at a nice guesthouse http://www.ofnir.com/galtafell/ if not fully booked and also here if not fully booked https://secure.reykjavikhotels.is/booking/en/
Hotel Reykjavik is only 10-15 min walk from center and Hotel Reykjavik centrum is right in town.
I can also get you ficed price with a taxi depending on what time you arrive but the fly bus is a good option and if you want to do tours I can get you discount both with http://re.is/ or other different tour companies.
Greetings
Bragi

...and if You want to see Blue Lagoon, there is a chance to take a flybus from the airport to downtown through Blue Lagoon or on Your way back from Reykjavik to Keflavik(bus is waiting for a while and You have time to bath in a lagoon). From Blue Lagoon the bus took us right to our guest house (Three Sisters), so as the others said, no idea to take a taxi.

Your Flybus tickets are easily purchased on the spot at the bus when you board. Just make sure you buy a round trip ticket and you'll get a bit of a break on the price. The Flybus will take you to the BSI bus terminal just outside the city center. There, you will board smaller buses that will take you directly to your hotel. Make arrangements with your hotel management and they will contact the Flybus to pick you up in time for your flight out of Keflavik. I've used it three times and have been very happy with it each time.
