Yellowstone National Park Help, Two days in Yellowstone- what to see/do
Posted: Mon January 22, 2007 10:51 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I are driving from Boise to Jackson Hole for Memorial weekend and I was thinking of satying at the Rusty Parrot Resort for two nights. Any comments? We want to take a one day safari in yellowstone and the see the Grand Tetons the next day. Does anyone know how far of a drive from the Rusty Parrot resort to the Grand Tetons? Suggestions on where to go/see in te Grand Tetons for the day? I would also appreciate some recommendations on good restaurants in Jackson Hole, good steak house, entertainment, unique etc....

I'm not sure about the travel time between the resort and Yellowstone, but my hunch is that you are expecting to do too much in two days. These drives are hours in length. Yellowstone is itself a very large place and getting round to the geysers and mud pits can take two days. But, then I suppose if you live in Boise, you might already know about the driving distances. Use Mapquest...

Jackson is pretty much in the Tetons. I suppose it isn't more than a 30 or 40 minute drive to the Moose entrance to the park. It is a very easy day trip. We flew in around noon and spent the afternoon looking around.

Yellowstone is a different. Far be it from me to tell you that you shouldn't go on a long day trip. Leave very early in the morning. Its something like two hours to the South entrance. You can simply enjoy driving around the park or get out and see they geyser basins. Bear in mind that to see much of the park, you'll need to do a lot of driving and probably get back to Jackson fairly late.

What you'll find in Yellowstone is that you'll be back. Probably the Tetons first.

I'd do the Tetons first. You might decide to spend the second day there instead.

If you want to see our pictures from out there in July, click on my name (AKJ1) and it should show you the website. We only spent one night in Jackson. You probably should see the Cowboy Bar.
