| Jaipur | Getting to Jaipur from Delhi Posted: Mon January 22, 2007 09:47 PM UTC
Hi,
My friend and I are coming to India this week and would like to get to Jaipur from Delhi. Can anyone please tell me the easiest way, how much it will cost and what times of day the transport departs at either end. Thanks Mia |

There are plenty of buses and trains, both inexpensive.

There are several trains each day. The best of them is the Ajmer Shatabdi, a 'luxury' express. Luxury because (1) it's fairly clean, (2) it doesn't make a lot of stops, (3) you're served a light breakfast, and (4) it has only two classes of service, '1A' and 'CC.' The train leaves the main Delhi station at 0610 and arrives in Jaipur at 1045. (Correction: it's supposed to arrive at 1045. When I took it, a little over a year ago, it got in about 1130.)
Fares are Rs905 (about US21) for 1A, 465 ($11) for CC. You can check the entire Delhi-Jaipur schedule at: www.indianrail.gov.in/ Go to the website and click 'trains between important stations'. . . .

Hi, the Second option is by bus. There is a direct bus to Jaipur which starts from Bikaner House, Near India Gate. You can go there and book the ticket on the spot(do not fall prey to agents/tauts). There is a bus leaving every 30 minutes.
They are comfortable and drivers are good Good because you will always find "Rash Drivers" about India). The drive is 6 Hours approx with one stop at midway, where you can have some light refreshment, and few souvenier shops. You can choose from Deluxe Bus (which is 2x2 with push back seat) and AC bus (deluxe bus with AC). The cost of the trip is approx US$9 for deluxe and US$12 for AC. HTH

If you are okay with night travel and wanna save a day , take an overnight bus from bikaner house (opp india gate). Theres a bus that leaves at 11 pm and another at 12 . Gets you into jaipur early in the morning.
