| Agadir | Things to do around Agadir and other info needed Posted: Mon January 22, 2007 08:03 PM UTC
I am taking 20 students who are 18 year olds to Agadir March 25 for 7 days.
I want them to have a good time and experience new things. I also want them to know how to behave is such a way as to not offend the locals. Besides the beach what are the attractions/excursions that would be of interest to the students? Please give details of companies you would trust and prices if known. What is the drinking age and attitudes to drinking? Plus attitudes to smoking? My research tells me that it will be warm at the start of April... warm enough to get a suntan? What about the water temperature? Lastly I saw a post or commment somewhere which warned visitors to ensure that any cameras etc be noted in the passport on entry otherwise they might get taxed on the way out. |

Agadir - like shooting tuna in the can.
You will have no problems, Mike. Agadir is very modern in it's outlook - very tourist friendly. Offending the locals is usually taken care of by the pros - mongers, sex tourists, etc. Your kids won't be bringing anything new to the Agadir scene. Here's my Morocco page (cut-and-paste) http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/c5757/edc/ but Mike, check out everybody here http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Africa/Morocc - especially the women's pages since they will have a healthy spin on Morocco that swarthy-daraja-speaking-borderline-male-chauvinists (like me) might not. Gives some Balance, you dig? Sounds like an adventure, boo Jamal Morelli

hi
as your last reply stated agadir is a modern relaxed town its not the natural morocco but that might be a little basic for the teens most of the natives are kept out of the town unless they have money or work in the area so the touts are kept away however most hotels have discos and nightclubs which the youngsters will want to go to . these are perficly safe but be a little careful as these are also meeting points for the good time girls in agadir . they will cause no trouble to groups but single guys might just get politely propositioned if they go on their own and single girls will deferentially get some form of polite but distinctly sexual offer drinking in the beach area about 1 mile deep is tolarant and no real age limit for Europeans. back a bit in the town drink is not available Europeans can do no wrong in morocco and agadir is relaxed in its attitud to western dress and ( to them) part nudity so smoke your heart out in and out of restaurants even the airport dont worry about camera etc. in airport nobody is worried for group travellers tempture hot during day plenty of danger from sunburn cooler at night might need light coat . sea temp coldish as its the Atlantic but not as cold as uk the excursion are not great and can be expensive . Marrakesh is a two day trip due to distance and there are no roman ruins etc in the area . but to a first timer a trip along the coast in either direction will take you out of the sanitised moroccian environment into something resembling the real morocco and some loverly deserted beaches peter@read354.freeserve.co.uk
