| Jiuzhaigou | JZG and Plitvice Lake Posted: Mon January 22, 2007 11:45 AM UTC
Are they the same in terms of nature beauty ?
If you know both places, which one you prefer ? Why ? : Jiuzhaigou in China and Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. |

| Jiuzhaigou | Jiuzhaigou and Croatia's Plitvice Lake Posted: Mon January 22, 2007 01:21 PM UTC
I have not been to Croatia but just Google imaged "Plitvice Lake" and there are indeed remarkable similarities with regard to natural scenery. However I would add that Jiuzhaigou is located in a region of northern Sichuan that has a significant ethnic Tibetan population, so you get to see those folks as a bonus.
If you don't have time to visit Tibet, then Jiuzhaigou is a worthwhile destination while in Sichuan province with added excursions to Huanglong and Songpan. I have often said that Jiuzhaigou has China's most beautiful natural scenery, but if Jiuzhaigou looks too much like Croatia then I suppose one could look for natural scenery that is more strikingly different. Perhaps the karst topography of Guilin/Yangshuo would be an adequate alternative, if desert dunes or vast grasslands don't appeal to you.

similar in geologics, but jzg is much larger. as so many sceneries in sichuan province where jzg located, i prefer to visit jzg and surroundings, of course if i can afford, i will try both.

I've been to Plitvice Lake. Let me tell you it's beyond anything you've ever seen in your lifetime. The pictures don't do it justice. Jiuzhaigou will have a hard time topping Plitvice. I believe Plitvice has more waterfalls with 16 lakes. I'm planning a trip to China in Oct and really debating if I should stop by Jiuzhaigou since it's quite akward to get to. I may have to cut Hong Kong out for Jiuzhaigou is it worth it?

Jiuzhaigou is definitely worth it, but you should plan on at least 3 days there out of Chengdu.
