Ban Khao Lak Travel Forum

Hi, i will be visiting Khao Lak later in the year in winter and would be very gratful for any info about the place, restruants, bars things to see etc etc,well thanks.

Khao Lak is full of 'resorts' along the Andaman coast and is a jumping off point for dive/snorkelling/tour boats to the Similans. I've stayed at the NanThong Resorts and they're reasonably priced for that area.

Yes, it's a farily quiet area and although there is a nice beach (the multiple Nan Thong Resorts share the same beach as several other resorts) the snorkelling isn't particularly stellar. Best to go on a dive boat or a snorkelling boat to the Similans. I've done both and enjoyed it tremendously. This area is good for a couple weeks because you're also very close to the Khao Sok nature park.

Hi again,well thanks for your reply,and information,yes i,ll be going in the winter to chill out for a couple of wekks,i,ve travelled a lot in Thailand but never been,to Khao Lak,so i thought i,de give it a try,as many places in Thailand now are really becoming so touristy,so thanks once again.

go to Ko Lanta, great place to chill, ie Waterfall Bay or lanta long beach for budget, great, quiet beaches, with a little nightlife in town and some diving operators
