Am single and scheduled to visit Omsk during first week of March
Planning my hotel booking.. Which is the best hotel? Which are the best places for shopping? Is english widely spoken? and english newspapers, magazines available. From Omsk i have to go to Novosibirsk and furhter to Moscow. IS there any flight connection? Any nice lady or travelmate WLTM welcome. |

Two best hotels in city center - are "Mayak" and "Tourist". Places for shopping - shops at "Lyubinsky prospekt" (other side of Om river from hotels, where little chapel seen), shop centers: "Cascade", "T.Tz. Omskii", "Continent", etc. Near "Continent" there are a big open bazaar "Torgovyi Gorod" (watch your pockets :). English is NOT widely spoken (sorry), but in most cases "broken russian-english mix" help you :). No english press, only via inet. No air races to Novosib, but there are daily trains (evening out, morning arrive) and speed electric train (at noon out, evening arrive). About 6 hrs of time.
I am Omsk local resident, so if you have any questions about city - i glad to help. P.S. Sorry for broken English :)
