Bari Italy v Scotland 28/03.07

I am having great difficulty in finding accomodation in Bari for the night! I know I will be able to find a room outside the city however my freind and I would prefer to stay in the city center. Can anyone advise?
Billy
PS Could the Italian Federation have made this game more difficult to attend, or do they merely not want we Scots to turn up?

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately venere could not come up with anything and if I remember Tim Parks excellent book (A season with Verona) he did not stay in Bari on that particular trip. However I have found a few VT strands that I am pursuing at the moment.
Billy
PS May I just say that over the last couple of years I have enjoyed your acerbic (and helpful) insights into Italy and Italian culture.

We wre told that this will be confirmed on the 3rd Feb.

Certainly Bari isn't a touristic town YET...

Dear craic,
Bari's citizens thank you for your words "...they are embarassed to be so poor".....but what do YOU know about Bari(one of the 10 biggest italian cities and Apulian chief town, with more than 2000 years of history...) and its territory???I think a little little little bit...
And remember that EVERY PLACE in Italy has something to offer and to say,Italy isn't only Rome,Florence,Venice

Apart some Italian stupid rivalries(North and South,Bari and Lecce,etc.)...

Naturally your opinions about a place(especially if well-grounded) are always legitim, but I think that some of your words can emerge offensive and superficials...I don't think that books says that we don't want tourists or that we are embarassed to be so poor(it isn't the third world...).
However...It's OK.Bye

try www.hostelworld.com, Bari is a pleasant and colourfull town with really rich history and nice surrounding area (Ostuni, Alberobello) what most regular turists dont know about.

When I posted
"PS Could the Italian Federation have made this game more difficult to attend, or do they merely not want we Scots to turn up?"
I meant it in a jokular if somewhat sarcastic way, merely stating that it is very difficult to travel to Bari from Scotland, much easier to go to Milan or Rome or Florence! I personally would love to visit the region "in vacanza".

My post was not meant to start a fierce debate with people being misunderstood and falling out!

I look forward to the football (a game supposed to bring people together) and posting my experience of Bari sometime in the future.

Billy

PS I still haven't found anywhere to stay!

Try these links :

Most of the hotels have the internet site(especially the superior ones),so try to find them on google.
If you need an help about the position of the hotels or other infos,I'm here.
Bye

I'm coming over to Bari for the Scotland game with a few mates. Unfortunately we're only arriving on the morning of the match and may only spend one day in town. However I'm quite keen to arrange a game of football against some locals. We can get 5 or possibly 7 people together, and we're all between 30 and 35 so a little past our prime.

Would you be interested in a game or do you know anyone who would be?

Ciao

Andy
