| Botswana | Taking a bus trip thru Botswana. Posted: Sun January 21, 2007 07:56 AM UTC
Hello there,
I am planning a bus trip down to South Africa thru Gaborone. I would like info on which buses I can take from Lusaka to Gaborone and Gaborone to Jo'Burg. I hear they are really comfortable. How much would the bus tickets cost from Lusaka to Gaborone and Gaborone to Jo'Burg, (a price breakdown for different company)? I would like to use a comfortable bus. Also, please give me info on a ffordable places to stay in the capital, and interesting things to do. I am an African, so I dont need to see wildlife, I want to interact with the people. Also please give me visa info. Does a kenyan need a visa, and if i do, do I get it from here, or from the border, and how much would it be? Thanx, gatwiri.......................................... |

I'm not sure if you've already found an answer, but from what I know, there's only one coach service between Lusaka and Gaborone, which actually crosses the border at Kazangula and uses the ferry (as opposed to travelling via Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe). The service is called "Zambia - Botswana Coach". They have 2 different coaches - one full luxury and one luxury. I believe both have air-conditioning, onboard toilet(s) and video entertainment, but the super one is supposed to be newer and more comfortable. Their schedules are as follows:
1. Super Luxury coach: Depart Lusaka on Saturdays and Tuesdays at 2100h Arrive Gaborone on Sundays and Wednesdays at 1900h Depart Gaborone on Mondays and Thursdays at 2000h Arrive Lusaka on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2000h 2. Luxury coach: Depart Lusaka on Sundays and Wednesdays at 2100h Arrive Gaborone on Mondays and Thursdays at 1900h Depart Gaborone on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2000h Arrive Lusaka on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2000h I think the coach fare is about US$ 60 each way.
