Cochin is a beautiful city and there are plenty things to do in and around cochin. You can go through the cochin (Kochi) site in VT, it has everything to be seen in cochin. Apart from being in cochin, if you have time you can also visit nearby places like Munnar ( 4 hrs from kochi) and Kumarakoan ( 4 Hr from ,Kochi). You can proably buy something made of coir also some artefacts and some gold and pearl jewellery. Lots to be done ....and dont forget to taste the Kerala Local Delicacies....Have Fun and Enjoy your trip.

Cochin is somewhat on the quiet side. the best attractions are natural ones, and they are pretty. Shopping is nothing to be talked about, cant hold a candle to Mumbai or Bangalore. there is virtually no night life in cochin, no bar scene like that of bangalore, mumbai nightlife.
but it is a good introduction to India, and the people of India, Keralaites are polite and friendly. Enjoy your stay in Kerala.
