Houston Relocating

Hi everyone. My husband and I currently live in New York with our three kids. We have decided to move over the summer to Houston, Texas. I want to know about the good neighborhoods in Houston. I also want to know about the schools and colleges that are good there. I am searching for a good elementary, middle school, and a good college. I've heard about places called sugarland, spring, and katy. What are the positions for a pharmaceautical chemist? Do they have job openings there over there? Will I easily get a job? A area with Pakistani descent and shops are to be looked about too. It would be nice to have a mosque nearby a nice area. Thank You.

HOWDY!

Katy, Sugarland and Spring are good neighnorhoods and therefore have excellent school districts. Add to your list The Woodlands. All these neighborhoods are about 45 min. - 1 hr. from the city center where most of the universities are. Lots of good colleges here - the University of St. Thomas, Rice U, Houston Baptist U, U of Houston, etc. And don't be turned off by the distance - Houston is so, so big - if it's reachable within the hour, it's near enough! But you do need a vehicle to move around - even if only to get to the nearest Park and Ride (then you can hop in to the Metro Bus for destinations in the downtown area - to avoid parking fees).

Sorry can't help you in the job search.

Re: the mosque...We definitely have them here...I just don't know the exact locations.

And yes, I do believe there is a shopping strip here with lots of Pakistani and Indian shops. If I'm not mistaken, it's somewhere near the Galleria area.

Lemme tell you what else we have - space, lots and lots of space (compared to NYC anyway).

Good Luck!
