Hi, I am trying to squeeze in a long weekend away somewhere to see the Northern Lights, how many hours of daylight does Tromso have in late Feb? Does anybody know any cheap hostels open at this time of year ? I would be travelling alone. Thanks :-)

The polar night ends on January 21st in Tromsø (yay!!!!!!!!!!!:o) and the number of daylight hours increases quickly - in late February the sun rises ca 07.30 and sets ca 16.30.
Cheap hostels...hmm not really...but you could always try Tromsø camping if you don't mind staying a bit outside town http://www.tromsocamping.no/en/index.php Also have a look at www.destinasjontromso.no for more info about accommodation.
