| Samos | Getting from Samos to Athens or Mykonos Posted: Thu January 18, 2007 06:52 AM UTC
Hi! We need to get from Kusadasi in Izmir to either Mykonos or Athens in April this year. So far we have only been able to find a (rather expensive!) ferry that goes from Kusadasi to Samos. A couple of questions:
1) From Samos is there any ferry that we can take to get to Mykonos or Athens? So far none of the major ferry websites like http://www.ferries.gr/ and http://www.greekferries.gr/ seem to have such an option. In fact, how DOES one get out of Samos by ferry to any of the other major Greek islands? Is Samos being listed under another name on the websites? 2) Alternatively, is there any ferry that goes straight from Kusadasi to Mykonos or Athens (or any other major Greek island)? Being able to book the tickets online or at least book in advance would be a great plus. Thanks in advance for the help! Really appreciated. warm regards lxkd |

From Kusadasi you can only go to Samos. As for Mykonos,i checked last summer's schedule of www.hellenicseaways.gr and they had a trip from Samos to Mykonos on Tuesdays and Sundays. But you have to wait till they make the new schedules.

Last year in Late May, the "regular" ferry from Samos to Mykonos ran on THursday and one other day, I forget which. It took about 5 hours, got in at 10:15 pm.

| Samos | RE: Getting from Samos(Vathy) to Athens(Piraeus) or Mykonos Posted: Fri January 19, 2007 07:09 PM UTC
1) Note that islands in the area are sometimes listed by the PORTS not the island.
Samos has three main ports, 1) Vathy or Vathi or Samos town, 2) Karlovassi, 3) Pythagorio. There is a daily ferry that runs Samos(Vathy/Vathi) to Piraeus, This always calls in to Ikaria also referred to by PORT i.e. Evdilos or Ag. Kirikos. Some of these ferries usually call in to Mykonos or Syros, roughly half or 3x per week. There is also a ferry 'Nissos Kalymnos' that runs from Pythagorio to Patmos about 3-4 times a week, and from Patmos there are ferries to Piraeus. 2) No, only Kusadasi to Samos(Vathy). You won't need to book tickets in advance unless it's on the Greek Easter. These ferries do change which island in the Cyclades they call in on the way during the year and from year to year, so you need to check when in Samos(Vathy).
