| Guadalajara | Guadalajara Neighborhoods Posted: Thu January 18, 2007 04:24 AM UTC
Hello everybody,
My fiance and I are moving to Mexico next year and will be spending some time exploring Guadalajara this April. I'd love to get some recommendations for nice, livable neighborhoods. Are there any artistic bohemian neighborhoods in GDL similar to the East Village/LES in NYC or Condesa in Mexico City? How about colonial areas? Is there much outside Centro or Tlaquepaque? Thanks for your help! |

dont know in which price range you are looking for and if you want to rent or buy. I live in Tlaquepaque just about 10 minutes walking from the center. Tlaquepaque is great. I think it is a good place to live. It is more village like but with all the benefits of having Guadalajara at 20 minutes by bus. I choose for Tlaquepaque because it it is much quiter than Guadalajara. There are many streets only for pedestrians and it is not yet very touristy. There are beatiful colonial buildings here and you can rent a small house for about 2500 pesos a month. If you are interested coming down here I can show you around if you like. I know the better neigborhoods in Tlaquepaque. Everywhere it safe in Tlaquepaque. There is tourist police everywhere going around on their bikes.
If you look for some accommodation to explore Tlaquepaque just let me know. I have a nice fully furnished apartment in the back of my house with kitchen, private bathroom, wireless internet and cable TV. Just let me know. Wouter

Hi Wouter,
Thanks for your help. From all I've heard, Tlaquepaque sounds great. My fiance and I are spending a weekend there during our trip. We'll be at Casa de las Flores, but we'd certainly love to meet up. I'll send you a PM. Thanks! Lucy
