I was reading a post about how (some)locals stereotype people from different countries. What do the locals think about African American men? How are we treated?

They generally stereotype easterners such as Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Filipinos etc. African americans are generally treated with respect possibly as there are quite a few indiginous black Kuwaitis. In fact a friend of ours who is African American lived here for a couple of years and recently told us that he liked it here simply because he never felt discriminated against.

You heard right; there is a lot of stereotyping in Kuwait, more so than anywhere else I've been. And it's not just locals, either. Most expatriates do it too, they sort of get sucked into it after they get here. The good news for you is that discrimination is based on nationality, not race, and since Americans for the most part are looked upon favorably in this country, I think you'll be treated very well here.
