Amalfi Travel Forum

Hi,

Is the end of March an okay time to visit the Amalfi Coast, or will I be cold and wet the whole time?? I plan on being outside for an entire week!

I went to amalfi coast from Lion france, last year, at the end of march 2006..it was ok
so i think that would be better 'cause same friends of there told me that the weather is very good this year..!
I start to tell you my experience: I take the flight to rome, at first my idea was to rent a car 'cause all the world tell me that the trains are not so good, but many chat friends tell me that drive to amalfi coast is not so easy, the streets are little, you must pay attention and so.. you could lose all the beautiful waterscape..
so i try another direction: rent a car with a driver, and it was the best solution..
Own driver Paola of Scialone Limo service, took us at the airport of Rome, and , after for all the holidays she brought us to all museums, churches, ancient monuments, beautiful coves and small beaches, osteria, and she spoke a perfect english!
own hotel was Il nido , in sorrento, very confortable and nice and with an incomparable view of the Gulf of Naples.. me and my husbund felt in paradise..

I can now reply to my own question...NO! The weather sucks in March!! It rained every day and it was cold...never got above 45 degrees. However, I enjoyed the fact that there were very few tourists around (particularly since we drove), so I think I actually preferred that to nice weather. There were spots of sun here and there, but all in all, if you're looking to be out in the sun and especially out on a beach, go in the summer!!
