I'm planning on traveling to Puerto Viejo and Cahuita in CR soon and am wondering if I really need an SUV or is a regular car a possibility.
Last year I went to Jaco', Manuel Antonio on the pacific side and it was not a problem. I know that in other areas of CR an SUV is a must, like parts of the Guanacaste coast and Monteverde if it's raining! |

no need for suv, better yet take public bus from the caribe terminal for less than 7 us,

I agree . We took the bus from San Jose. First to Cahuita and then to Puerto Viejo . Didn;t really need a car. The bus worked out fine . There are several leaving everyday. If you really want a car though, you will be fine without a SUV.
