Puerto Princesa City Sabang

We arrive Puerto Princesa in the morning; is it okay to go to Sabang at around lunchtime to tour the underground river? How long does it take to tour it? Are there jeeps from Sabang back to PPC in the evening? Thanks!

I suggest that you go to Sabang earlier mainly because it takes 2.5hrs to get there from the city, then you have to take another 20min boat ride. When you reach the island, you'll have to line up to take the boat to the U.R. this is on a first come-first served basis. The last jeep from Sabang to PP leaves at around 2pm. I don't know if you can hire one to take you back later or how much it'll cost you.

If your not going with an organized tour group, I suggest that you call the PP Tourism Office at Telephone: +63 48 4344211 Telefax: +63 48 4332983 or e-mail them at: info@visitpuertoprincesa.com so you can get instructions on how to go about getting permits to go to UR (it's a protected area, afterall).

I wouldn't recommend that you leave for Sabang and the Underground River if it's beyond 9am since it's a long (and very bumpy) ride from PPrincesa to Sabang. This part of Palawan is best enjoyed if you are not in a hurry and the banca ride (along the South China Sea) will be smoother and safer if done before late afternoon (either from Sabang to UR or vice versa).

I would suggest that you do Honda Bay then Sabang and UR the next day. Also it would be best if you get a guide who will arrange everything for you including the food. I got this guy's # from VT, he's good and can be trusted (he even let me borrow his snorkel mask while we were in Snake Is so I didnt need to rent). Call Marlo 0906 8897483.

Enjoy Palawan! you will love snake is and enjoy swimming with the fishes!
