| Salvador da Bahia | Simply Looking for a Miracle Posted: Tue January 16, 2007 05:43 PM UTC
Hello,
I know I'm late in asking this, but a hookup just fell through at the worst time. I already have tickets for Carnaval flying from Buenos Aires to Salvador on the 15th of February. Three of us are looking for any reasonably priced accommodations in the area for at least a few days. I've checked on the sites recommended by others but have only come across extremely expensive apts or full Hotels/Hostels. We're willing to join others in an apt. We are one male and 2 females in early 30's/late 20's. All I'm asking is simply for a miracle. Much love and Un brazo fuerte, S-I |

If "reasonable" and "not extremely expensive" is going to be a factor, start thinking about Plan B (Where else can we spend Carnaval within reasonable travel time of Salvador?). At this time, you take anything you can get in Salvador and you do it immediately and without asking too many questions. This page:
http://www.bahia-online.net/lodging.htm still shows a few apartments available. Depends on how bad you want to be in Salvador---a hundred dollars a night worth? For Plan B, you could try going up the coast by bus or by car to some nice quieter beaches or you could try the popular Carnaval in Porto Seguro (by overnight bus (R$88) to the south) which will also be somewhat expensive (and Arrial D'Ajuda, Trancoso, Caraiva nearby), but may have availability. Or Morro do Sao Paulo, by catamaran or boat-bus-boat.

Thanks for the fast reply. $100 a night between the three of us wouldn't break the bank. That would be fine at this point. I'll keep looking around for that miracle.

Sorry, hon, $100 per night EACH is more what you have to be prepared to pay, especially this late.

Hello, my name is Cristiane I leave in Salvador Bahia.... Maybe I can help you..
For how many days do you need an accommodation? And how much do you would like to pay for that? Would you like to stay near Pelourinho, Barra, Ondina there are all accommodations at that time expensive... A good option can be to stay in apt in the Avenida Sete, but there you will be direct in the carnival street. During the day isnt so much noise, but in the night is just party! Another option is to stay in the area like Itapoan or Praia do Flamengo, you will have a very good beach and in the night you take a taxi or a bus to go to the Carnival, the distance is almost one hour by bus and 30 hour by car... If you want I can have a look by my friends to know if they want maybe to rent their apartments, I just need to know how long and how much! Bye, Bye Cristiane Mattos

Cristiane,
Thanks for the offer. We are still looking for a place from the 15th of February to the 20th of February. We would prefer to stay near Barra, but would settle on something a bit further if it were less expensive. We would like to pay around R$2000 for this time or less if possible. Thank you for any help you can give. As for sharing a place with some other folks, we would be interested in that too. (I hope Im speaking for the 2 girls when i say that). We are down for partying, but also want a somewhat quiet place to cook and chill when not destroying our livers. -Steve

Hi Steve,
How are you and the girls? Miracle happens. You just need to think positiv and have God by your side! So a friend of mine want to rent her apartment; She lives in Politeama(look at your map), this is behind the Seven Avenue, where during the day happen the carnival. There isnt quite, but her apartment is nice and sure you have enough place to cook and stay relax. I am trying to get some pictures to send to you, for that I need you e- mail. If I tell you the truth at Carnival time isnt no place quite in Bahia. Only if you stay real far from the party, otherwise you try to enjoy it.. She is asking for that days just R$ 1650.00( reais not dollar). If you are interested or not, contact me at: cristianemattos@hotmail.com and add me to your msn. Where are you from? And the girls? Is going to be your first time in Bahia? I am looking forward to hear from you! Have a nice time! Cristiane Mattos
