| Fortuna | How to get around la Fortuna without a car? Posted: Tue January 16, 2007 05:10 AM UTC
We (party of 3) don't plan to rent a car. What is the best way to go around, say, from the town of la Fortuna to Arenal Volcano National Park and the various hot springs? Is there buses or taxis?
Thanks, Raymond |

Last August we spent some days in La Fortuna and payed a lot for taxis. There is a bus to near the entrance of the Volcano National Park but then you have to walk some km (not to much). From there we took a taxi (which was quite difficult to call if you don’t have made an arrangement in advance) to the hanging bridges. It was about (I am not sure exactly) 25 $. From town to our hotel some km up the hill it was again more than 15 $. (ok we are a family of 4, but after the prices in Nicaragua and San José it was quite expensive).

another alternative is to join a local tour, which you'll find the tour agencies on the main street in town. I'm not sure which is cheaper since you have 3 persons. Maybe worthwhile to arrange for a taxi.
