| Jackson | Hotel Room With A Balcony Posted: Mon January 15, 2007 03:23 PM UTC
My wife & I will be attending a wedding in Jackson in August. Since one of us is a smoker, a room with a balcony solves a lot of problems. Are there any hotels / motels in the local area that have rooms with a balcony?
We also plan on visiting Yellowstone following the wedding. Do you advise staying in Yellowstone or remaining in the Jackson hotel? Thanks, BJR1 |

You need to move to Yellowstone. Its a long drive to Yellowstone from Jackson. It may not look like it on a map but it takes a while. Also you lose a lot of time in a car that you could spend enjoying Yellowstone.

You definetely need to go to Yellowstone. It will take approximately 2 hours from the town center to the south entrance of the park and then, another 2 - 3 hours to the Lake region.
From Lake to Canyon, depending on traffic through Hayden Valley, animals on the road, etc. about another 1 - 2 hours. From there to Mammoth, about 2 - 3 hours. From Mammoth to Geysers, about 2 hours and then, on to Old Faithful, about another hour. All in all, the full circle can be made in a full day, leaving at dawn, returning late into the night. This includes very limited short stops. Much better to head up, stay at a midway point such as Canyon Village or even Mammoth if you think you can make it that far on the first day. Good luck. Homer
