Mind intro burget hotel near Surabaya train station?
I was heard that Gubeng Hotel just 5 minit walk to Train station.

Yes, it is about 5 minutes or so from the train station, but you have to cross some roads to get there and the traffic is terrible- really fast and in many cases up to 6 lanes across. In July 2006 I caught a becak to the Gubeng Hotel as it was the easiest thing to do.But realize that the becak driver ahs to go a little aournd the world to get there becasue of the raod postioning and so on. Cost me 5,000 rupiah. Unfortunately the hotel was full. They charge for two people so it is like a room for 80,000 that was their cheapest price.
Hotel Paveljon, much further away is 77,000 for two/room.
I ended up staying a basic Indonesian accomodation in Jalan Sonokembang, a good 10 minute walk from the station that was 50,000/night. For me it was o.k.The becak driver took me there when I discovered the Gubeng was full.

P.S. Do not even think about Bamboo Den- it is really horrible. I got a guide I made friends with to take me there. The bedrooms are the smallest I have ever seen. The double bunk beds fill the entire room and in mnay cases no windows and loads of mosquitoes.

May i know is the train station near by to Bus Station to Probolinggo? Cos we will overnight at Surabaya, the next day morning will depart to my dream Mountain - Bromo.

I am trying to remember. I was with a Dutch couple and I think we may have caught a small local bus to the bus terminal where the bus to Cemoro Lawang goes. Sorry I have forgotten. All I know it was not difficult.
You can choos efrom taking the local bus for 15,000 which will take an hour or os to fill up or you can get the 'tourist' bus that leaves immediately for 30,000. We choose the local bus because none of us were in a big hurry.

The bus station "Bungurasih" where you can catch intercity buses is located near the airport (approx 10 minutes from airport). If you stay in downtown area, you can go to the bus station by taxi or city buses.

The train station "Gubeng" is the main station where the train to Probolinggo stops. This station is located in downtown area - approx 30-45 minutes from airport. I think the train also stops in "Wonokromo" station which is quite close to the airport/bus station. Check my Surabaya page, I think I posted the phone number of the train station. Call them to ask more information.

To be more practical: if you choose to go by bus, stay near airport or the bus station. If you choose to go by train, stay near the train station or downtown area.

I do not have any information about the hotels – how much it costs or how good they are in terms of room, service, etc. So I cannot recommend anything. You can call them from airport before you go there.
