| Darwin | Idea on areas to live. Posted: Mon January 15, 2007 06:34 AM UTC
Hi, we are considering taking up a job offer in Darwin. Young family of 5 looking for a moderate to upmarket area to buy a house in and have NO IDEA where is good. Want good access to decent primary school and shops. Want simillar aged people/families in the area aswell (we are 32,28,6,4,3)
Where is a nice area? We are moving from an Inner city suburb of Adelaide and will be after a decent sized 4-5 bedroom home. Any ideas?? |

I don't live in Darwin but the more 'up market' places are Fanny Bay area, or Nightcliff and Brinkin. Parap should be okay. There are some bad areas around Palmerston and Casuarina. That's my impression anyway. Overall, Darwin has a young population (the youngest for Australia). It is a young person's place.

Having visited Darwin last July, I'd add Rapid Creek as an area that you might want to consider. It's near to many amenities like shopping, beaches and the university and it has nice housing, but not over the top luxury.
