State of New South Wales Trains/Coach/Campervan Help Needed Please
Posted: Sun January 14, 2007 12:17 PM UTC
Hi

Would like info/websites on train/coach journeys, first journey from Sydney to Port Macquarie, second journey Port Macquarie to Brisbane. Also any info on hiring campervan in Brisbane to travel to Cairns returning campervan back to Brisbane. Is it easy/safe to stop off with campervan overnight at rest stops. Any info/costs/advice would be very much appreciated.

Trains: http://www.countrylink.info/
Buses: www.greyhound.com.au

I am not sure about campervans but you could try the following:
www.drivenow.com.au/
www.britz.com.au/
www.bartrak.com.au/
www.oztrekmotorhomes.com
www.campermanaustralia.com
www.autorentals.com.au

I have never had dealings with any of the campervan companies so I can't recommend one.

I hope you have a great trip.

You may have to use official camping grounds, known as caravan parks here, there are some places where they don,t like people to stop overnight. I think disallowed spots are likely to be next to a busy road. Have a look at websites and find out the exact prices for motorhome hire as someone on here said hiring a motorhome worked out to be an expensive holiday,(work out cost of hire plus fuel plus camping ground fee) you might be better off hiring a car and staying im Motels.Cost of a campsite in a caravan park about $30-40 per night, petrol about $1.10 per litre. Another motorhome company is Maui, I see a lot of them around.
I don,t know your age group but some rels of mine in their early sixties did a tour with Australian Pacific and enjoyed it very much. They are not aimed at older people but if you are a young couple this may not appeal.

I had a look at the websites for Britz and Maui, it appears the hire rates start at about $100 per day, if you looked at those websites yourself and filled in your own details you would have a firm price to work with.
