| Niagara Falls | Niagara Falls to Burlington, Vermont Posted: Fri January 12, 2007 10:41 PM UTC
Hi there! I am going to be travelling in NE United States in September this year and am currently trying ot plan my itenarary.
I am planning on taking a train overnight from New York city to Niagara Falls (not yet decided whether NY or Canada), and from Niagara Falls, am due to stay a week near Burlington, Vermont. This means that I need to somehow travel from Niagara falls to Burlington. I have looked up several airlines and Amtrak with no success. Could you please help me in my predicament! I don't mind taking a train or plane. I know driving could be an option but I think it is going to be too far. Thanks in advance for your help! Neeraj |

This question has actually come up before. The consensus, believe it or not, favored driving. From Buffalo, NY Thruway to Albany and then north on the Northway which is also an expressway. At some point, you must exit the Northway and drive into Vermont or cross Lake Champlain on a ferry of which there are several. These are slow but amazingly scenic. If you choose to drive, email me and I will type out the directions for the route I personally use realizing there are several ways to make the trip from the Northway to Burlington. Get a roadmap. N.

And if you cannot bring yourself to drive, probably the fastest easiest way by public transit is to fly Jet Blue to JFK in New York City and in the same terminal take Jet Blue up to Burlington. Both are non stop flights.

Actually, you can travel from Buffalo. N. Y. by several airlines to Burlington. The fare midweek is $114 to $116. Look it up at Kayak.com. I would guess it would cost at least that much to rent a car. The flights leave Buffalo around 5 pm and you would be in Burlington about 3 1/2 hours later. It is a long drive across New York, and then up the Northway. It is a 3 1/2 hour drive from Albany to Burlington, and the portion from Buffalo to Albany is about 5 1/2 to 6 hours. I live just north of Burlington, so I have been there and done that before. Although right now I am at my Florida home for winter. .....Jon
