| St. John's | help with teen's activites Posted: Fri January 12, 2007 01:32 AM UTC
My husband and I will be coming to St. John's in late June with a group of about 10 teens (ages 15 - 18) and participating in a robotic competition at a local university. What suggestions does anyone have to keep them busy and happy outside the competition? I know there are whale watching trips...what else would catch the eye of a teen (outside museums). Thanks for any assistance!

here are a few web addresses to check out:
http://www.newfoundlandandlabradortourism.com this is info about the whole province, but you should find a good bit about St. John's. http://www.stjohns.worldweb.com Be sure to click on the arrows under the picture of the street scene. You get a great "taste" of St. John's here. This site also gives you a mapping option, so you can figure out where you are, where you want to go and how to get there. http://www.stjohns.ca/visitors/index.jsp This site is the official City of St. John's Site...lots of info here and of course, don't miss: http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America

It depends what you've got time for really. If you can plan for few hours, they might like wallnuts. That's a place where people go to do rock climbing activities. It's really fun. There's a lot of unique stores downtown they'll probably like. Hempware is a store specializing in eco-friendly products that kids really love and there's quite a few skateboarding stores. The malls are usually packed with teens if they want to socialize. Music stop is a cool music store with a really experienced staff. Bowering park is a nice place for a stroll and a trip up on signal hill for the view would get them some great pictures. The Geo center is also up towards signal hill and they might enjoy that.
If you've really got time, take them Sea Kayaking out on the southern shore. We went out on Stan Cook's sea kayaking tour last summer and it was awesome! Hope this helps.
