Hi. We've driven the N116 from Perpignan to Prades but not past Prades. It is fine that far but you are in the valley on that part of it. Further on between Olette and Andorra on the map, it looks a bit intimidating. The N20 up to Pas de la Casa is almost guaranteed to be really winding. I don't know about "drops" though. It is February and it is the Pyrenees so there may also be snow.
If you don't have your heart set on Pas de la Casa, consider driving down the coast toward Spain. You could visit Collioure and Banyuls-sur-Mer, both really lovely towns on the Mediterranean.
Type Collioure into your VT Search Window above and check what VT members have written about it. Then try the same thing with Banyuls.
Hopefully, someone will answer your question about the road past Prades.
