No, Ullapool doesn't have a railway station.
You could travel from Kyle of Lochalsh (near Skye) to Garve. Suppose there will be a bus from garve to Ullapool

Just in case you're headed for the Western Isles (Harris/Lewis), you are aware of the Calmac ferry from Uig (Skye) to Tarbert (Harris), right?

A summer or so ago there also used to be a new passenger only ferry service between Portree and Gairloch, from where there also might be a bus available to run the gorgeous coastal route to Ullapool, but I am not sure it still exists.

Developing RhineRoll's reply there is a ferry from Skye (Uig, in the North) to Tarbert on Harris/Lewis and another from Stornaway, on the same island to Ullapool. both ferries run two round trips on most days except Sunday.

Do not expect to travel, apart from walking, on a Sunday (this applies also on parts of Skye to a lesser extent)

If you have the time and inclination I can recommend this trip, which is possible within a day - but ideally a few days should be spent on Lewis itself.

However the island of Harris and Lewis is more remote than Skye; the ferries might seem expensive and are 36 miles apart (about 2 hours drive on those roads!) requiring a cab (phone ahead)

The Portree to Gairloch ferry existed in 2004, but was discontinued. The website is still there, but no info.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the info. Pity about it, must have been a gorgeous route to sail on!
