We stayed at a LOVELY hotel in that area -- called The Victoria Hotel. We really loved it. It is in a great location -- a little off the main area, but the main area is easily accessible by the hotel's water shuttle. This hotel has a beautiful pool and is located right on the water -- so, great view! The hotel is a colonial style. The only thing was there were mosquitos! But, I guess that is pretty typical of that area anyway! Sorry, at this time I do not have their # in front of me, but you can check it out at: http://www.asiatour24.com/asia-hotels/cantho/Victoria.html

Thanks for your suggestion. It looks really great.
However the hotel is rather expensive. An accommodation up to 25 $ would be should be sufficient to us. Best regards, Bernd

I've stayed in Can Tho twice. The first time during an organised tour in a bad hotel, the second time during my Mekong trip. That time, the hotel was rather good. I think it was the Tay Ho hotel, cos that's the only one I find in LP that's looking right out on the Ho Chi Minh statue. It's cheap, decent & right next to the waterfront. In your hotel you'll be approached for a trip on the Mekong, so don't worry about where to find that.

Hello Bernd
We also stayed at the Victoria CanTho. It's nice but if you don't intend to spend time in the hotel, beside sleeping (which I recommend you don't) it's on the expensive side of the scale and I'm not shure it's worth it. (Like the one in Hoi An which I recommend dearly if you get there). Make sure to take the boat trip on the Mekong, and don't miss the floating markets, the many small factories and the fruit gardens Enjoy Galy

Thanks, mango13 and Galy, for your recommandations.
I'm still looking for a comfortable and clean hotel in Can Tho. There are some, that should be fine, but without E-Mail or Web-Adress, so I asked them via Fax. Still waiting for answers ... Perhaps, we'll book in december on place. Best regards, Bernd
