1. Get over to El Puerto and experience some alternative restaurants
2. try out the casino http://www.casinobahiadecadiz.es/ just outside Puerto on the road to Jerez
3. find out more about Sherry wines and the varieties by visiting Bodegas in El Puerto (Osborne), Jerez of course and Sanlucar. Not necessarily in the same day.
4. take the catamaran over from Rota marina to Cadiz

places to stay depend on your budget and likes etc

News about cat service to Cadiz from Rota that may be of interest. From www.cadiznews.com

From February 1st 2007, the catamaran service between Rota and Cádiz will double its number of daily trips, and on weekdays it will run eight times a day to the provincial capital and seven times in the opposite direction. There will also be one extra return trip on Sundays. Since the catamarans began operating last summer, people from Rota have been complaining about the timetable because although the service cuts 30 minutes off the normal journey time it did not run at convenient times for people to get to work or school. So, from next month, the first trip to Cádiz will be at 7.15 in the morning and the following ones will be at 8.20, 9.45, 13.30, 14.40, 15.40, 18.45 and 21.00 hours. The return journeys will begin at 7.50 a.m., continuing at 09.00, 12.15, 14.10, 15.10, 18.15 and 20.15. On Sundays and public holidays the catamaran will leave Rota at 11.00, 15.00 and 19.00 and will set off from Cádiz at 10.30, 14.30 and 18.30.
