Ban Khao Lak Travel Forum

Hi, please could someone advise is it better to go to Khao Lak or Koh Samet.

I love the beach and sea and wanted to be at the most beautiful beaches and water and what time of the year is it best to go.

I would say Koh Chang near by Trat (no even close to both), nice waterfall, less touristy & acessable by coach ( and then change the ferry). it depends how much sun and heat you want, april is the hottest month, dec- feb is chilled and less sunny.

I would definitly go to Khao Lak. Beaches are great! and you can find beaches that are deserted, no ther people for miles around, or you can stay where there are lots of people. Best time of the year would be November through Feb. March and april are going to be hot, but then you are at the beach! Any other month you are going to be in the rainy season. Not bad as usually it'll rain for an hour or two and then quit, but it can also be heavy depending on the month. The deserted beaches will require you to get out and travel abit but when I go there I love to get on a bike and look around. If thats not you then the beaches are still great. I beleive that the water is warmer also, like bath water. If you need a place to stay let me know, I can highly recommend a place that I thought was great!!! But there also depends on what you are looking for.
