Suriname Transportation to Guyana
Posted: Mon January 8, 2007 10:40 PM UTC
Any tips on what is the best way to travel from Suriname to Guyana (or preferably vice versa)? A flight might be best (if that exists) but any ideas for bus, train, boat, car would be appreciated. Anyone know if it's possible to charter a small plane for the trip?

I'm asking on behalf of my parents who are very active and well-traveled seniors. Their preferred routing would be from Georgetown, Guyana to Paramaribo, Suriname. Thank you.

You do have an interesting itinery. You could also try KLM and fly to Amsterdam.
Arrive in Paramaribo - flight from where?
Stay in Paramaribo it takes 4 or so hours to the Nieuw Nickerie/South Drain
intersection.
At the intersection, there is a bus waiting to take you to South Drain and it
doesn?t cost any extra. Another hour or so on the bumpy dirt road, and you
finally arrive at South Drain (aka the ferry terminal). Purchased my $10 US
ticket to cross Suriname Guyana. Minibus. $2000 Guyana dollars for the trip from
Moleson Creek to Georgetown ? that?s about $10 ? and they?d drop you off
wherever you?re staying too.

hmmm, about 25 years ago I got pleasantly drunk for the first time in a little boat on the Marowijne river, crossing over to St. Laurent, Guyana. Correct: crossing back from St. L. because we bought the bad quality bubbly there and the little boat was quite rocky. I think I kissed the very attractive boyfriend of my brother. I'm sure of it. I think I kissed his other friend as well :-)

Sorry, not helpful. But it's a rather vivid memory of a 16yr old then!
