Hi Emily,

You've not mentioned that in whcih part of N.W.F.P, this village's loacetd or what's the closest town to that village.

I'm a Peshawar, born and bred person , many times been to Swat valley but I've never heard of this village.

There's a name for this area in the olden days it's the capital of Gandhara art and Buddhism so may be something similar to that.

If you could send me the deatils and the name of the area, I can give you the authentic information about that.

Ciao,

hi there,
A few years ago, I travelled with some Swat locals to their village (it was well into the 'village' area from what I saw. The name fails me now. Anyway, it's a beautiful remote area (imagine basic). I did however fall very sick due to soem food poisoning - and it was because I caved in and ate/drank what the locals kept insisting i take. Usually I decline politely, but this time i felt so bad so I took a little. I ate local roti and some cooked meat. May be an idea to watch what your daughter wants to eat. Also, if at a proper hotel/motel/guesthouse, not a problem. I was relaly in the thick of the village. It took me 3 days to completely rest as I was unable to move about easily. Not easily forgotten experience.

Hello there,

I am able to give you first hand advise about Dadahara. I have spent some time there. It’s a basic village located along the GT road which can be accessed from both Mingora and Barikot. It is advisable to stay at either mingora ( 6 miles away) or barikot (3 miles away) as there are plenty of decent hotels there. Having said that the locals are very friendly and hospitable. Its quite a large village with a population of about a couple of thousand people, and its split into four sub sections or mohallahs, each with their own mosques etc. The river swat flows nearby.
